WILMINGTON, N.C., April 8, 2024 – The New Hanover Community Endowment (NHCE) is now accepting applications from residents who wish to be considered for the Community Advisory Council (CAC).

Members will serve as NHCE ambassadors, acting as liaisons between the Endowment and community. In addition, the CAC will provide expert guidance on the Endowment’s focus areas – education, health and social equity, community safety and community development. “Our impact is amplified by the relationships fostered through the council,” said Board Chair Bill Cameron. “The members’ understanding of our community is invaluable to our work as we seek to make grants now and in the future.”

The ideal candidates will have demonstrated collaboration skills and prior service to the community. CAC members are required to live in New Hanover County. Service on the CAC is voluntary.

“The council will ensure the board and staff have a deeper insight into opportunities to serve our neighbors,” said Lakesha McDay, NHCE’s Executive Vice President of Programs and Operations. “We value collaboration with the community advisory council to further connect with the community as the Endowment invests in transformational solutions.”

Individuals interested in applying can access the application here and on NHCE’s website. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is May 6. Once the application process is complete, the board of directors will review submissions and vote to confirm their selections. The Endowment expects to announce the council’s new members in June.
