Newly Formed Endowment to Announce First Round of Grant Recipients at Upcoming Public Meeting

WILMINGTON, N.C., DEC. 05, 2022 – The New Hanover Community Endowment (NHCE) will announce its 2022 Cape Fear Opportunities and Needs grant recipients at its next public meeting on Friday, Dec. 9 at 4:30 p.m. at Plaza on Princess in Downtown Wilmington. This is the endowment’s inaugural round of investments in the community. The NHCE will be distributing more than $9 million to various nonprofits in New Hanover County.

From Sept. 1 through Sept. 30, the endowment accepted applications from local nonprofits in New Hanover County. Applicants provided extensive information on their organizations’ missions, goals and plans for any funds that would be allocated. The endowment received 291 applications and will distribute one-time, non-renewable grants to selected organizations with missions that align with the endowment’s overall goals.

This meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on Spectrum Channel 13. It will also be streamed online. Spanish and ASL interpretation will be available at the session. Members of the New Hanover County community are invited to provide public comment and questions here ahead of the meeting.
