
Patricia Kusek’s career includes 25 years with Duke Energy, where she taught mathematics and physics in the nuclear power division. In addition, she also managed communications and public affairs at all three of Duke’s nuclear sites.
Patricia graduated from Catawba College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and studied engineering at UNC-Charlotte. Her love of numbers and teaching led her to Wilmington in 2000, where she founded her own business, Kusek Financial Group, a financial services firm, serving clients across the region and the US. She holds securities licenses Series 7, 63, 66, 53, and General Securities Principal Series 24.
Patricia served as the first female Chair of the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority and also served as Chair of the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees. She was elected to serve a four-year term as a New Hanover County Commissioner and served as its Vice Chair in 2020.
Her husband Walter is the love of her life, and for 37 years they have shared each other and many wonderful furry felines. She considers it an honor to add the New Hanover County Endowment Board to her list of community service.
